I have not been able to completely resolve this issue as I do not currently reload. Wasn’t brass at all, spent cases look fine under magnification (also purchased based on concerns), it is unburnt propellant for sure. I can say that I originally thought all of the “specs” were bits of brass based on over gassing and extraction issues, or buffer problems, had me worried, so I bought SA gas block for everything. I am not sure why the supers run cleaner than subs, other than thinking major manufacturers may be adding a filler to the powder for subs to fill space? Dunno, that is only a guess. Sure, there is still carbon, but no specs of unburnt powder everywhere. I do not have the same issues with supersonic rounds. Hornady 208 is not as bad, but still visible specs of powder.įederal 220 grain subs work the best for my rifles, still dirty, just not as bad. Gemtech 187 subs are the worst, leaves unburnt power everywhere. I run each suppressed and unsuppressed, obviously cleaner without a can on all accounts. All with Syrac adjustable gas blocks (see why below), the BCG’s and buffer weight, are identical on all rifles. I have an two 8” and a three 10.5” 300blk AR's. I found this to be common with commercially available subsonic 300blk rounds when used with a short barrel in my experience. Question 2: What can I do to extend the reliable operating period? A stronger recoil spring would probably overcome the friction, but I would have to open the gas port to compensate which seems like it would make it get dirty faster. Question 1a: Is there cleaner 300 Blackout subsonic ammo? Question 1: Is it normal for 300 Blackout running subsonic ammo to get dirty enough to have malfunctions in only 200 rounds?
#Recommended buffer for 300 blackout subsonic ammo manual
(It's very enjoyable to shoot.) Between these two outings I fired 212 rounds.īut the next outing it started failing to lock into battery on just about every round, whether from manual charging, charging via the bolt release, or firing. I also got to take it out for some fun when it again ran beautifully.

Initial testing and zeroing went beautifully. I recently completed my first build of a 300 Blackout AR pistol.
